CHEROKEE GENEALOGICAL RESOURCES

AND Excerpts from "Heart of the Eagle" by Prof. Brent Yanusdi Cox (used with verbal permission)

Quiet Dignity My Grandma

Talmadge Davis' Grandma, a full-blood Cherokee, was a spiritual woman and a midwife. She delivered, at last count,

225 children, including a Supreme Court Justice. There have been numerous articles and stories written about her and the stories

she told her children and grandchildren about Sequoyah (her great-grandfather twice removed) as well as the story of the

White Butterfly. A very enjoyable and proud moment in my life was going to a Museum in Cherokee. NC,, and finding a story

about Sequoyah and my Grandma. I hope this paint; !.' expresses the full amount of my love for this beautiful woman who earned

every line in her hands and face.

She is still deeply loved and missed."
